Before its conversion to a single family residence, this church had suffered through 100 years of additions and alterations, losing its steeple in the process. But the new owners had the vision to see an opportunity and asked us if we were up for the challenge. What followed was a design process that addressed the planning issues but also celebrated the many eccentricities the building had acquired over the course of its history. It is certainly one of our more unusual projects, but we are delighted with the way it turned out. And to top it off, the Town of San Anselmo granted us an unprecedented height variance to install a new steeple to match the original!
